Join the Youth Advisory Board!

The Youth Advisory Board (YAB) is part of the African American Planning and Design (AAPD) Committee for THE AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY ASSESSMENT: THE NEXT PHASE.

YAB, in partnership with the Bay Area Community Health Advisory Council (BACHAC) and the San Mateo County of Behavioral Services, will plan and/or implement recommendations from the African American Community Assessment 2023. Applications due January 24, 2024.

San Mateo County Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Prevention is working on a Strategic Prevention Plan to educate community members about alcohol and other drug use hazards. With the goal to lower youth use of alcohol and other drugs, AOD contracted the Bay Area Community Health Advisory Council (BACHAC) to conduct an assessment of the social and environmental factors that contribute to substance use disorder in the African American communities in San Mateo County.

If you or your organization are interested in participating in this project, please complete the African American Planning and Design Committee Connector Form. We are looking for participants in middle school to adults of all ages to complete the assessments.
