Giving to BACHAC Gives Life to the Community

‘Tis the Season of Giving!

During the holidays and as the year comes to a close, many of us are thinking about how we can contribute to our communities. So why should you consider giving to BACHAC? Here are just a few ways BACHAC made an impact in 2022:

  • 200+ and counting uninsured women received mammograms

  • 300+ and counting surveys collected from a community-designed and driven, BACHAC-led mental health & substance disorder assessment project which is underway specifically for African Americans in San Mateo County

  • 20,000+ and counting PPE goodie bags distributed containing supplies to minimize the spread of COVID-19 throughout San Mateo County (That also translates to 20K Antigen kits, sanitizers and 40K +Masks)

  • 87+ and counting vax clinics and events BACHAC has participated in and/or supported

  • 3,800+ and counting phone calls to encourage community members to get vaccinated, answer questions and provide registration assistance

  • 1,100 and counting pieces of health-related content, events, and information on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. We also more than doubled our social media audience, reached an average of 18,000 people each month, and increased event registrations by over 45%.

  • 65+ and counting Umoja Health meetings were co-led by BACHAC in South & North Counties with community members, healthcare organizations, SMC Health, other CBOs, educational and faith-based leaders to review data, coordinate health outreach efforts, and address community issues

We accomplished all of the above while continuing to organize, host, and support many community programs throughout the year.

  • Wellness Where You Are Program Series

  • Being Black in The Bay (Jan)

  • Off To A Good Start (Feb)

  • Soul Stroll Activities (Jan-May)

  • Men’s Health Symposium (Sept.)

  • Breast Cancer Awareness Program (Oct)

  • TLC for Caregivers (Nov.)

Our hope is the above reasons provide a picture of how BACHAC continues to minimize health inequities and disparities in underserved and diverse communities in San Mateo County. Donating is easy, here’s the link!

Thank you for all your support!
